The company is looking forward to its OLED panels to create a boom in the market, but not that soon.
LG showed off its newly designed flat screen recently at a small event in Korea. The TV is attached to a magnetic mat fixed on the wall, and it is removed easily as well, by just peeling it off the mat. As reports state, the tech giants have used a high molecular substance-based polyimide film at the back of the TV, instead of plastic, this gives the flat screen a more flexible structure, and maximum curve radius. Its Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) panel is 30 percent more better in transmitting light, and was a mission accomplished due to LG’s transparent pixel design technology.
The company is looking forward for its OLED panel’s to create a boom in the market, but not that soon. As we notice, these LED TV’s represent the future, and unlike a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) TV, it doesn’t use a backlight, as its screen emits lights itself, that is also the reason for it to be this slim.
After latest LG news revealed OLED flat screen TV, its plan for the future seems to be pretty obvious. Reports confirm the fact that the company’s display strategy will now focus on OLED technology. Even though LG has widely produced quite amazing LED TV’s recently.
According to Korea Times, LG promised to set up a complete production line for OLED TV’s starting in the next two months, in order to meet customer demands.
As LG news reports state, the company also plans on manufacturing a 99 inch OLED panel this year. LG has recently rolled out three sizes of OLED TV’s: 55-inch, 66-inch, and 77-inch.
LG’s ultra slim screen technology can also be used to produce a number of different products, such as mobile phones, and wearable’s. Not only that, but every such screen in future can now be developed this thin, just because of the molecular technology, the ultra slim film has. Although, the costs associated with OLED screens are quite high, and not everyone can purchase it at the moment.
The 67-inch, 4K OLED TV manufactured by LG is priced at $9,000. Popular TV manufacturers, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and LG Electronics Inc. are shifting towards quantum dot technology their next TV lineup, until then, they hope the prices of OLED’s will become cheaper for most of their buyers. This technology is a mix up of tiny light-emitting crystals, and liquid crystal displays (LCD). The TV’s can then be sold out at an affordable price, rather than using the organic light emitting diodes (OLED).
The OLED technology will definitely catch up with time, and would result in a decrease of prices. An industrial analyst estimated an OLED is five times more the price than a standard LCD TV today, therefore quantum dot technology will used for the next generation TV’s, which will approximately be 30 percent more expensive than LCD TV’s today.
The company recently released a ultra-high definition OLED TV, as big as 65-inch, and is priced as high as $11,350 (12 million in South Korea).
