In celebration of winning 5 Emmy Awards on its series Transparent, the retail giant is giving a discount of $32 to people on Friday.
Amazon Prime will be offering a membership worth $67 on Friday, September 25, 2015 for its new subscribers. From an annual fee of $99 per members, it is reducing the price by $32 to encourage people to sign up for membership.
The price Amazon is charging desirable fees compared to what the Online Shopping is offering to its customers. Members who annually pay a fee of $99 can avail the following things; the company offers two day free shipping service, over 800,000 free e-books that the users can read, the users can listen to millions of songs, stream movies and television series and earlier this month, it has allowed its Prime Instant Video subscribers to download movies and TV shows as well. Thus, the company is definitely offering value for the money the members are paying.
With this new offer, Amazon Stock News revealed that a new subscriber of Amazon Prime would be able to save $32; the company decided to be this generous due to the success of its series Transparent. The series won 5 Emmy Awards due to which the company has decided to allow this amount of discount to the new people signing up for the service. People interested to avail this reduced price will be able to sign up for the service from 12am EST to 2:50am EST on Saturday. So for those who are from the PT time zone, they will have plenty of time to sign up for it. Because of the generous discount that the company is allowing a large number of people are expected to sign up.
This success of the company shows how much the population has moved towards original content productions and how popular these original shows have become for online streaming users especially for a company that used to offer only movies and shows from other networks and cables. Amazon will be giving a tough time to its biggest rival Netflix, Inc., an American based video streaming service. The retail giant has managed to come and stand right next to its biggest competitor. Even though Amazon stole the show at the Emmy’s, Netflix’s ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Orange is the New Black’ has received Emmy Awards.
Through this win, the retail giant will be attracting all kinds of consumers to its Prime services and gain additional subscribers. As of September 23, 2015, the company’s shares have dropped by 0.24% and it has been currently trading at a share price of $536.94 with a market cap of $252.02 million.
