Facebook Introduces GIF-Style Video Profile Photos

Facebook launches GIF-style videos profile pictures to enhance user interactivity.
Facebook has introduced a new feature. It has reincarnated the lowlight/highlight (depending on user’s tolerance for pompous products on the internet) of the initial 2000s social media: animated profile photos are back. Such avatars, which were quite popular for the MySpace generation through generous utilization of animated gif, have mainly been not available in succeeding social platforms, even as the format of the file has gone through a renaissance.
However, company’s new profile videos – a few seconds of video that is 2015’s equivalent of vigorous GIF – could be uploaded from the Facebook iPhone software to appease everyone.
Facebook News affirmed that once uploaded, they would only be animated if anyone has visited a user’s profile, not in everybody’s newsfeed yet. Company proclaimed the change by posting in a blog, “Profile videos will let [you] show a part of yourself you couldn’t before, and add a new dimension to your profile.”
Facebook News today exclaimed that profile pictures could also be static. Management has stated, “It can be a visual status update to let your friends know what’s going on in your life today, or it can be your statement of solidarity for a cause you feel strongly about.”
Facebook Breaking news reported that both videos and profile images are currently larger and focused on the page, which makes them quite difficult to disregard. The newly introduced profile pictures could be uploaded only through the company application for iPhones for users in the California and United Kingdom for now. In spite of being limited to Apple’s iOS in the current scenario, the new update does not support Apple’s new Live pictures.
Facebook profiles are now also having small space beneath the action buttons of users to write whatsoever they like, just as the bios of Twitter. Actual biography, letters, words, and emojis have been welcomed, as are up to five featured images.
Everyone who could view a user’s profile on the company’s social media platform would be allowed to find the new bio space. Other details on profile could be viewed or not centered on widespread criteria around public, friends, etc.
The added feature would improve the reputation of the social platform operating company. The introduction of animated gif-style profile images would increase the attraction to users’ profiles. Facebook is concerned about the balance of user interactivity and user experience. However, it is keen to know the public response for its innovation.
