Uber Co-founder's Startup 'Operator'

Uber's co-founder, Camp is working on another startup named Operator. This is under the cover and being tested for various scenarios but is said to change the way commerce norms happen at the moment.

Whenever you want something, you send a message and that message places the order for you and also gets you the thing delivered you asked for. This idea has been catered by the co-founder of Uber, Garret Camp in the form of a new startup Operator. Latest Uber news is that it is still under the cover and being developed, sources with the authentic knowledge of the app report.

This startup might appear to you as Magic which was blew up recently. That startup was said to be only a side project of Bettir , a Y Combinator company. On the contrary, Operator appears as a polished app which has been under the testing process for more than a year and aims to change the commerce norms with this app release.

The website developed for Operator is merely a teaser with a waitlist form that asks for your name and email address and adds you to the list. The job listing says “Our product lies at the intersection of technology’s biggest trends today—messaging, mobile, and on-demand services.” Gladly we know more than that.

Uber news reports that the current version of Operator can be altered before its launch but there has been no official statement on that.

The app acts as an inbox filled with the requests received from the users and is like message threads. For a new request to happen, you type the thing you want and send it. Operator can be asked to send you a large size new white dress shirt. The app can handle more complex queries, such as “Get me the cheapest four-pack of white, short socks that are decent quality.”

It isn’t confirmed yet but Operator is being developed in such a way that it will be capable of managing more operations than deliveries only, for instance personal task management.

Once the message has been sent, human operator will begin the searching as per the request and look for the best suited options and provide them to you. Once you have made your mind and have selected one of the options, the operator will place the online order or the phone calls that might be essential to make the order placement happen. They will chat with you and confirm the finishing process then and handle you the receipt for payment. It will be stylish and sent to you in the thread. The payment is done automatically via payment method which is on file and is similar to Uber’s payment method. It is said that this will be a personal experience for users and is worth it for the people who are occupied with work a lot.

We can imagine if Operator and Uber are incorporated then the commerce and transportation will be united and can make the company create something innovative.
