Last week on Thursday, Twitter unveiled Periscope. It is a live-streaming app which has been developed by the company this year. Latest Twitter news is that the app has only been built under $100 million. Twitter personnel say that the people’s experience with social network won’t change. The people shall click on the link of the video shared and they have choice either to view it via Periscope or Web viewer. During the time Twitter confirmed the Periscope deal, Meerkat popped up. The company was using social giant’s graph search for recommending live streams to the users. That has been called off as the social giant decides to gather more traffic for Periscope.
There is not much difference between Meerkat and Periscope. However, Periscope supports the feature where users can replay the live streamed content. Despite the fact that both allow the broadcasters to keep copied of the feeds but Meerkat does not allow replays.
The most loved feature and also the novel one is possibly the attribute of encouraging the broadcasters to stream more meaningful content instead of irrelevant one. The “Most Loved” list is where the hearted streams are displayed, thus the most loved content will be the meaningful too.
Twitter news is that its new launch of Periscope might not change the way users use the social giant but live streaming being introduced will be a catch for many companies using the social network for advertisements and also the ones that deliver customer care services using it.
We are not sure of the challenges that might be faced while attempting to power the live streaming of Twitter. However, organizations will work on their customer care aspect in order to utilize this feature.
About 80% of the Twitter users use it via mobile devices. On one aspect, Facebook has called the future of its business being in mobile and Microsoft has claimed “Mobile first, cloud first” world. The entire industry is trying to make itself present in the devices that are wearable or portable to be moved along with the users around the places.
"The future for Twitter is to get outside of 140-characters text and into multimedia," Said the Twitter personnel.
The world is moving from textural contact to the video one, since it requires not that much of a commitment from user. Twitter is aiming to ensure that video is an integral part of it so its audience is logged in on it.
Facebook announced how they are aiming to change the way people post videos, this might be a heads-up for Twitter too, therefore Periscope. Timely introduced!
