This has happened for the first time in social network history that a social giant has let children that are under the age of 13 have been led to have official existence on it. Latest Facebook news is about the “Scrapbook” that the parents of underage children can create in order for the kids to have an official presence on the social network. The parents can share the photos of their new born, toddlers and underage children via scrapbook to share with their family and friends. It is decided that Scrapbook will first launch in United States on Android, iOS and desktop devices.
Facebook news reports that they are still in process of brain storming on the idea as to how parents can give controls off to the children one they are 13 and are officially allowed to join the social network. Just in case some people are not fond of seeing baby photos on their Home page, letting parents identify them could be the first pedestal towards the aspect of social giant hiding those photos from your feed.
In order to create a scrapbook, the users can go to their About section and click on “Family and Relationships” tab. There, the users will see options to begin a new scrapbook or create another one for existing kid. This will enable them to be established as a parent and create a unofficial or temporary existence of their children.
You might come across an animated video to guide you about how to make Scrapbooks, the video is pretty cute. Now, you can see if you want to own the scrapbook by yourself or share it with your partner. In this way, they will have the access to it in the same way you have. They can tag photos of the kid, get notifications regarding those tags and can change the privacy settings related to the Scrapbook.
After you have created the Scrapbook, photos will be shown to parents who are tagged with their partner or with them; parents can click to see which one of the photos features their little world.
From then onwards, if the parents wish to show their family or friends, photos of their kids, they have it all in one place. In the coming years, Facebook plans to let these kids assume the ownership of this Scrapbook, once they are 13.
According to the Facebook personnel, anybody who is on the social network, should be able to control their own identity and they can share it more about the memories they had when they were kids or delete it if they are conscious about getting laughed at.
