Latest Verizon news is about ‘Android Headlines’ recent tour to the Switch Facilities of Verizon in Michigan. These Switch Facilities are all around the country created and managed by Verizon. It handles the data and calls that come across and go through the company’s network. On daily basis, approximately 10 million calls and data transmission of 500 million records per day is the amount of data that runs through the building.

In the previous 15 years, over 2.5 billion has been invested by the company in their network, specifically Detroit area. The entire business of the communication giant relies on the network; they cannot and have never taken it for granted. Their customers perform all the functions and tasks on the network therefore they have to have an ultimate and reliable network, up and working.

The theme on which Switch Facility belonging to Verizon works is redundancy. Be it the shortage of power or any other hurdle, using the backups, all of them, that the company has, should be used in order for the network to be up and running through all of this. The building has been built, keeping the earthquakes and tornadoes and other natural causes in mind. Huge generators of 8,000 gallon tanks have been placed outside the building area. These generators can keep the Switch Facility going for weeks and months.

This drill provides the surety that it can handle such situation. If the network is out and Facility is not, this seems useless. For that, generators have been placed on the macro cell sites also known as cell towers.

Verizon claims that redundancy is an integral part of it, mentioning the 96% placement of generators on macro cell sites. This proves that no matter what happens around the region, Verizon’s network will stay up and be reliable for its customers.

 Small cells, part of company’s plan to be proactive keeping the on growing demand for data has been utilized across the nation.
