Twitch Resets Users Passwords

 tech news trend

The vastly popular service used for live streaming that is famous among the gamers; twitch was acquired by Amazon last year. It was almost a $1 billion deal. Today’s latest Twitch news is about the data breach that the live streaming service provider has suffered. It accepted that due to this breach, some users’ account might have experienced an unauthorized access. The company has notified its users to instantly change their passwords in order to protect themselves from any issue.
Twitch alerted the users about the breach in a blog post on their respective websites. It stated that there might be a chance of unauthorized access to some of the users’ account. In order for them to stay protected and be able to stay away from the security danger, it suggested for them to change the passwords to their accounts as they had expired the previous passwords and disconnected the Twitter and YouTube accounts.
They also advised to change the passwords for any websites that used the same passwords to become accessible. For the users that had been affected, the company planned to communicate with them directly, letting them be aware of the remediation that can be further effective.
The email sent to the Twitch users stated:
“We are writing to let you know that there may have been unauthorized access to some of your Twitch user account information, including possibly your Twitch username and associated email address, your password (which was cryptographically protected), the last IP address you logged in from, and any of the following if you provided it to us: first and last name, phone number, address, and date of birth…
According to the Twitch News, it is reported to be the fourth largest website on Internet as far as the traffic is concerned and also very popular. This hack could potentially have a serious impact on the reputation of the website. The increasing security breaches have led us to the fact that whether the large companies or small, the security for them is essential and should be catered in the first place. It has yet not been disclosed that how many users had been affected by this breach or how severe the situation is.
What should be kept in mind is the fact that the most popular websites and the ones with heavy traffic, when targeted, can provide immense amount of sensitive data, including usernames, passwords and other information. In any case, if you follow the convention of having “one-for-all” password then it should be a buzzer for you all too quickly discard this option. If the hackers can access your one account, they might be on their way to the other various accounts of your online networks.
